Exciting Happenings

First, the folks over at Gooseberry Records are putting together a Local Rabbits tribute, and are looking for contributors. If you are in a band, would like to submit a Local Rabbits cover, and can hit the January 31, 2010 deadline, send an e-mail to gooseberryrecords at hotmail dot com to get in contact. It'll be an early spring release.

If that's not enough for you, Gooseberry is also putting out a Plumtree tribute in the summer, which probably* has somethin' to do with that Scott Pilgrim vs The World movie that's coming out around that time. Same bat time, same bat e-mail address.

Secondly, Sloan has unleashed a new song

and it is good.

*Note: Probably = Definitely

SOCAN Survey Sunday

SOCAN is handing out "cash money dollars" to the Canadian artists played from September 27-29, so we chose really short songs from all of the Canucks in the list in order to milk as much dough as possible.

Also, FM-Phasis is on until October 2, so open your hearts and your wallets to Saskatoon's best radio station. Make a pledge to Thrice Removed (or any old show on CFCR) and experience the rush of extreme happiness and well-being that can only be achieved by donating to community radio.

If you are from Out East, and you somehow accidentally stumbled upon this weblog, please do go see a Sheepdogs show, especially if you enjoy evenings filled with good, old-fashioned rock and roll. The rest of us will have to make do with the new tunes up on their MySpace page.

**ALSO, Slow Down, Molasses have been picked to play at the Halifax Pop Explosion this year, help from October 20-24. In Halifax. Congratulations! Check them out before they leave town on October 8th at Amigos.

FM-Phasis Week 2: Steppin' It Up

Alrighty, folks. In addition to the warm & fuzzy feeling you get from contributing to a worthy cause, you can get something fuzzy that'll keep you warm:

The first 3 people to donate $75 or more to Thrice Removed are going to get a hand-crocheted scarf or toque in the colour of your choice made by yours truly.

Also, I'm going to crochet an afghan for the first person who is not my co-host to donate $125 to Thrice Removed. You get to pick the colours.

Plus, you still get to pick CDs and prizes for donating to CFCR. It's true!

Let's do this. Call 664-6678 to get the fine folks at the station (and be sure to mention Thrice Removed) or 242-5002 from 11pm-midnight this Sunday, September 27.

FM-PHASIS Information

What are you talking about?

FM-Phasis is CFCR's annual two-week on-air fundraising campaign. Money raised through FM-Phasis in the past has been used to move to a newer, better location, for new studio equipment, production studio renovations and a 1480-watt transmitter and webcasting, available here.

Money raised through the 2009 campaign will be put towards a new website, digitizing the library, updating the security system and paying for the higher cost of CFCR's new location.

But what's in it for me?

You mean other than that warm, fuzzy feeling and the vague sense of superiority you get for knowing that you're helping out a great cause?

You can also get lots of great stuff.
